Can mobileme work if iphone is not with you?

Hey, I just had my iphone stolen and my friend told me that I can use mobileme to track it down. But i never signed up for it. I want to know can I buy mobileme now and activate and like punch in my serial code and stuff then find out where my iphone is or what? I really want it back. It was just stolen 2 hours ago so I am doing all I can right now. Please help.|||No. Mobileme has to be set up on the phne prior to it being stolen.
