Unfortunately, I don't think there is a way to find it if you don't have the tracker app or mobileme, but could call your own number and hope for the best.
Also, I know it sounds really stupid, but you could retrace your steps to where you last had your iPhone and basically look everywhere. Under things, over things, behind things...everywhere.

If you retrieve it or buy a new one, you can get the "Find My iPhone" service completely free IF it's an iPhone 4, an iPod Touch 4th Gen or an iPad. Try finding it on the Apple website somewhere, you only get the Find My iPhone service (Not the other things like Mail, iDisk etc. that you need to pay for).
