MobileMe Subscription Question?
If i were to buy a 1 year MobileMe subscription, or what ever its called, and make a make a web-site with it, when my one year subscription is over, will my web-site "go-away" until i renew my subscription or will it stay on the web?|||You will need to renew it once your subscription is expired.

BUT the website will be a dismal failure because you do not know enough about the other 3 more important charactoristics of successful websites: Content, Preselling, and Free Traffic.

I have videos on Apple mobileme but can't get them to full screen viewing. Help, please.?

Why do I need mobileme?
I purchased the Mobileme family software when I picked up my iPhone 4. I haven't set it up yet and I'm still trying to figure out why I need it. What does it do that's so great?|||Most people really dont need it.

MobileMe public folder question?
Someone I know posts a link to their public MobileMe folder on a social networking site. The folder is unprotected so anyone can go on and download the really cool songs on this folder. I have a question about this: does the person know who downloads things? Or is it anonymous? And last of all, is it safe to download from the public folder?

Also, the process is secure, but that assumes that the files IN the folder aren't spyware, malicious files, etc.

Is the MobileMe worth setting up on the iPhone?
YES! I have MobileMe and I love it. The email is instant, the website to manage your stuff is awesome. You can upload photos and videos directly to your MobileMe page from the iPhone.
Plus, you have the "FindMyiPhone" feature which will show you the location of your phone if it's lost or stolen.

I have a Mac email address (xxxxxxxx@mac.com), which I got when I first bought my Macbook. To renew my account, I have to pay $100 again for another year.

I love the MobleMe service! At $100/yr that's only $8.33 a month or $0.27 a day. Not very much when you break it down! Plus you have online storage space - if you don't already, I recommend you download CarbonCopyCloner: it's a free program that lets you back up your entire computer to a single bootable file. That way you can upload the CCC file to your MobleMe account and if anything ever happens to your MacBook you have a complete backup of everything on your computer.
Also, you can upload things like pictures and videos to a password-protected album on MobleMe and then give the PW to people you want to be able to view and/or download that stuff. I use that to share pictures and video of my daughter with our family on the other side of the country (but I only have pics of her in those folders and my fam can't get into the rest of my albums).
Totally worth the yearly fee!

I'm going to sign up for a free trial of MobileMe to decide if its worth the money, but before I do so I want to hear from people who actually use it what their experience has been. Everyone is different so I'm just looking for opinions.|||i would disagree with the person above. i have an iphone and a mac and a windows PC and the funtionality and usability between them all is priceless. being able to get mail on all 3 without setting up different programs, the online storage to save things i need at work, etc. i have basic 5 meg cable internet and mine is never sluggish. i would definately recommend it.

Stolen iTouch with mobileme set up HELP?
I recently had my iTouch stolen i was able to locate the device (about an hour away from where i live) as soon as i saw it was being used i set up a lock on it. I want to keep tracking it but it will only give me the last location where it was used before i locked it. Is there any way i can remotely unlock it and continue to track it? If i wipe it can i remotely install mobile me again from another device? and what will i need?|||contact the cops or the service, they should help track it down.

Dotmac is not working recently and I really needs to publish some website from my Macintosh. Apple said that dotmac will be automatically upgrade to Mobileme on july 1. Why won't my new MacBook Pro let me go past the 'Try MobileMe Free' part?

Can mobileme find my phone when it is turned off or on airplane mode?
No. When the phone is off or in airplane mode, there are absolutely no signals or connections, making it impossible for mobileme or anything of the sort to connect to your phone.|||No..the phone must be on, in it's normal setting... It must be able to "ping", in other words send and receive information from satillites...|||It also has to be connected to a wifi signal. (unless you have 3G ofcorse)

However, the free version only lets you host 200 photos at a time and it has a limit on how much you can upload in a month. The paid or "pro" level of Flickr removes these limits.
Picasa Web Albums is good for hosting large numbers of smaller files. You are limited to essentially 1gb of storage, and you do not have as many of the features of Flickr. Picasa also puts your photos into distinct albums. Picasa Web Albums is also free.
MobileMe Gallery is part of the paid MobileMe service through apple. The service is more aimed at helping the you keep your picture up to date in multiple locations, but you can also let friends and family see your albums. i did something easier. i clicked the "site" button on the upper left and clicked "published to: ftp" but every time I click the "test connection" it always says that the password is incorrect but it's not. i tried it for almost 30 times :( my server address is: ftp.smile.com and my user name is desiree. it says "incorrect password for "desiree" on "ftp.smile.com" please try again" help me please.|||Your password is incorrect.

I bought a domain name from google, how do I use it with my MobileMe iWeb site?
I bought www.(mydomain).com and I want to have it set up so when you type it in, it directs you straight to my iWeb site, web.me.com/(mobilemename). How would I set that up?|||Here's the process in a nutshell:

You need to open up the email application on the iPhone and login using the same Mobile Me account you have online. If you have the account set up on your iPhone, delete it and keep the contacts when it asks you too. Then restart the iPhone. Log into Mobile Me and check that all your contacts are there and then open the Settings, Mail and Contacts then click Add Account. Put your Mobile Me info in and password and will download them from the Mobile Me site in a few minutes

If you lose your Android phone, you can block it by going on a computer and blocking it from there. The app has to be on the phone at the time of the loss or theft, it won't work otherwise. It has to do with the BIOS of your operating system. The command was written for LINUX but has been adapted to work on PCs and Macs. So the problem is weather or not your BIOS settings are configured to allow rapid data refresh (RDR). Contact microsoft, they will help guide you through it.

My ipod was stolen recently and i did not have the find my ipod option on when it was stolen, so i was hope that if i can still track it down using Mobileme if i download the paid version on my computer, or maybe i can do it from itunes. you would save my life if you helped me out|||I too had my Ipod stolen recently, filthy bastards, and there is no way to track down the ipod unless the mobileme app was already installed and turned on, on the ipod prior to it being stolen, also apple won't do ANYTHING to help, they will ask if you had the MobileMe app installed and turned ON, if you didn't they tell you the always helpful answer of "oh that sucks for you" and then they hang up so that's that so don't bother calling them. OK, I have created a website using iWeb'08 on Mac OS X 10.5.4 and tried to publish it, i have a mobile me account with free trial (60 days) account. I have created 1 personal domain as www.mydomain.com with mobileme. My personal domain is also registered with GoDaddy account. Now i know the next step was to park my domain (as per Godaddy) ,then next was the CNAME settings in godaddy with Alias: www.mydomain.com and points to hosts: web.me.com and TTL: 1 hour. These were the exact settings i have entered (no typo mistake)..
I then go on to publish the website with iweb as the option Publish All to MobileMe. It successfully publishes on to web.me.com/(myusername) but it doesn't publish on to my desired domain name, even after 48 hours from the time I clicked publish!! the www.mydomain.com website just shows the courtesy website of Godaddy which is same as before 48 hours ago.

How can I set up my yahoo plus with imap to send or merge mail folders to mobileme?
In the the MobileMe Apple product, I can access my Apple Mail and Yahoo Mail, but I want to merge or forward my stored folders to the MobileMe server to consolidate all the files in one location. I am told that if I can configure Yahoo Plus to IMAP, this may be accomplished. How may I accomplish this feat?|||Unfortunately, Yahoo does not work with IMAP. You have to use POP.

Use iTunes. Plug in your iPod Touch and go to iTunes, click on the iPod in iTunes and go to through the tabs. Some where there is a Sync Calender, Contacts and so on. My friend lost her iphone is it too late for her to buy MobileMe and use the "Find My iPhone" feature?
We have looked everywhere and she has not found it this is the only other thing we could think of .|||It's too late. To do this, click on Settings, then go to Mail, Contacts, Calenders. Once you click on that you will find at the top an accounts heading, click on add account, go on the heading 'Oher' and fill in your details.

Can I get mobileme to track my iphone even if i dont have it?
My phone got stolen, and i was wondering if i can get mobileme to track it even though i dont have my phone with me. is it possible? I am wondering, should i buy mobileme now or should i wait to see if it becomes free. I have heard rumors that it will become free hopefully. Apple free stuff, NO WAY!|||It's highly unlikely that MobileMe will be released as a free product. Running any service such as this, be it MobileMe, Gmail, etc, incurs massive costs which must be accounted for. Making MobileMe a free service would almost certainly require Apple to introduce advertising to support MobileMe. They wouldn't do this for a number of reasons. For example, advertising would break their trademark minimalist design. Also, most of the native OSX applications have built in MobileMe support to which advertising would not be extended.
I would go ahead and get MobileMe if you have at least two or more compatible Apple products such as a Macbook, iMac, iPhone, iPad, etc. it is *not* true that you can get all of the MobileMe services for free elsewhere. Do i need outlook to use mobileme on pc?
i don't have outlook on my pc and i want to use mobileme to sync calendars contacts etc to my iphone which i'll be getting soon. will i be able to use the calendars just on mobileme and the iphone? currently i use mozilla sunbird so i don't think i can sync my iphone with that.|||have a look here but it looks like you you need Outlook, Outlook Express, and Windows Contacts on a PC

What can mobileme do for the ipod touch?
Can it go online anywhere I go?|||MobileMe is more for data synchronization, it's not going to expand your wireless coverage since that's a limitation of your wifi router.
By synchronization I mean this. (btw mobileme is more beneficial to mac users than windows users)
Lets say you're browsing the web on your computer and you come across a couple sites that you would like to visit again on the touch. If you save them as bookmarks in Safari, then mobileme will automatically add those bookmarks to your ipod touch's safari when it gets online, as well as any other computer you have synchronized with your mobile me account.
Same for contacts and calendar events, it synchronizes all your devices with any changes you make on any computer. So if you add an appointment to calendar on the ipod touch, it'll automatically update your iCal at home. If you change someone's contact information off your computer on your work laptop, it'll automatically update the contacts listed in your home computer and iPod Touch.
Also with the @me.com email account, new emails will be 'pushed' to your ipod device as opposed to the device having to check every 15 minutes draining the battery.
Mobileme will also sync your preferences, mail accounts, dashboard, documents and such between all your computers that are hooked up with mobile me.
I find it rather handy, just not really justify the 99$ price tag just yet, but its very convient for me to keep track of everything automatically without having to make sure I synced with iTunes every time just to keep my contacts, calendar, mail, bookmarks updated.
[EDIT] There is the 60 day trial to try it out though, which is what I'm doing.

Hi. Does anyone know why I can't upload 1 movie in particular to my mobileme gallery from iphoto?
I have tried different formats and sizes, it uploaded it one time in tiny size then I did some editing and wanted a larger size and better quality (full size, it is a gig and a half) and couldn't upload it again. Publishing a website on a mac without Mobileme?
I created a webpage using iweb (the 30 day trial) and now I want to publish it. Is there any way I can do it without having to purchase Mobileme?|||Yes. You can publish the site to a local folder on your Mac, then copy that entire folder and put it onto your web server.

I understand how to password protect files on the online iDisk, but is it possible to add a password to photo albums in the Gallery, so that only those with the password can access photos? Thanks.|||Yes, you can do it from both iPhoto, or hide it from MobileMe.
When uploading from iPhoto, select your folder or picture and hit share from the taskbar. Press MobileMe, and a drop-down box will appear. The top option is something like:
'Make Album Viewable To'
If you select the drop-down list, press the edit option on the bottom of the list. Press the '+' button and create a username and password. Go back and select that under the 'Make Album Viewable To' menu, and wrap up the hosting procedure. Then, if someone clicks on that album, they will be prompted for the username/pass combination before they can view the photos.
If you're doing it from the web, log on to MobileMe. Select the hosted album that you want to protect, and hit the preferences button. Under the advanced menu, you can choose to hide it. Although not as safe as a username/pass combination, the album will not show up in your menu. Then you can just send the link to people you want to see the photos, and knowing the exact url of the album is the only way to access the photos.

Will MobileMe services be supported in iCloud or eliminated?
Apple didn't provide enough details about iCloud replacing MobileMe. Will iCloud replace the Photo Gallery and iDisk or will they be eliminated entirely? What about web access to these features, mail, etc.? I currently have web access to these features on MobileMe. Will I still have such web access on iCloud? Restored iPhone as a new phone, but I have mobileme. Can I get my text message conversations back?
I recently had a lot of problems with the newest iPhone update. After spending lots of time on Apple Support, my only option was to restore my phone as a new phone. I have mobileme, so I do still have all of my contacts but I can't figure out how to get my past text message conversations back. Does anyone know if this is possible?|||Sometimes if I delete a text message thread, if we re-text each other the option to see previous text messages appears at the top of the conversation. Although, I'm not sure if this is archived on the phone or the server, but it's worth a try. You'll have to do this for each individual contact.
